Woodside's Junior Activity Afternoons

Welcome to the Junior Members' page on the Woodside Website.

You may not realise this but you can become a member of the RSPCA, as an

Once you are a member of the National RSPCA, you automatically become a member of the Leicestershire Branch and that's when we send all Junior and Claws members our programme of activities.

We have an active group of young members who regularly take part in the Sunday afternoons that are laid on to tackle a range of animal issues. We asked our junior membership to come up with a list of ways to help animals. Click Here is an A-Z of how you could become involved.   Or click here for practical ways to help animals.

During this afternoon we built "Bugmoral Castle" a 5 star accommodation for mini beasts in our woodland at Woodside.

Our Junior Members doing "Practical Activites for Animals", litter picking and spray painting new paw prints to the cattery.

Running a stall, planting bulbs to sell and topping up the woodland path.

The idea of these themed afternoons is to look in some depth about a range of animal issues, raising awareness and learning how to help animals.  We also aim to have fun and this is the perfect chance to meet other like-minded youngsters.  The new programme starts each year in March/April and from then on there is an activity each month all based here at Woodside.  You also get invited to all of the other events we do at Woodside through the year.

There is a limit to the amount of 'Hands on' stuff we can do for reason of Health and Safety but there are still many opportunites for you to do things which are more 'behind the scenes' so to speak.  All of our Junior Leaders are CRB checked.  There may be a resident expert assisting on the day, there may be fun and games, face-painting and drama to be involved with.  I try to make the afternoons different, stimulating and relevant to everyone who attends.  We always have refreshments and there's usually a competition as well.

If all of this sounds like something you would like to get involved with, please contact Jade at Woodside and ask for a Junior Membership leaflet or check out the National  RSPCA Website www.rspca.org.uk for details.  For this year we are inviting non members to join us.  If you are interested in attending any of our fun activities, please download our booking form and post it with your booking fee(s) to:-
